The plain and simple truth about fat-burning supplements is that most of them don't work.
They either contain ineffective ingredients or ineffective doses of ingredients that would be effective (if they were dosed correctly).
Either way, the result is always the same...
If you're tired of fat-burners that don't actually burn fat, I'm right there with you.
I've wasted lots of time and money trying fat-burners that turned out to be bogus, but throughout my research, I've also stumbled across some that work.
Synephrine is one of the ones that works, and in this article, I'm going to tell you everything you need to know about it.
By the end, you'll know exactly how to use Synephrine to maximize your fat-loss efforts and, more importantly, you'll never waste another dollar on a fat-burner that doesn't work.
Let's get started...
What Is Synephrine And How Does It Work?
Synephrine is a mild stimulant which is found naturally in Bitter Orange.
It is a beta-receptor agonist which means it's capable of directly stimulating lipolysis, the breakdown of fat.
Lipolysis is essentailly the first step in fat-loss where triglycerides (stored fat) are broken down into their individual components, fatty acids and glycerol.
The body has two types of receptors that regulate this process:
- alpha-receptors - these receptors stop lipolysis
- beta-receptors - these receptors start lipolysis
Under normal circumstances, these alpha-receptors and beta-recptors work in a 'yin yang' fashion to maintain a healthy balance.
Of course, we evolved this mechanism to help keep us alive when food was scarce, but nowadays, most people want to get as ripped as possible.
Any substance that can tweak the way these receptors work in order to facilitate more fat-loss is of interest to pretty much everyone.
And Synephrine does just that.
Research has confirmed that Synephrine directly triggers lipolysis and increases the metabolic rate.
The term (resting) metabolic rate is simply another way of saying: the amount of calories you burn at rest.
By increasing the metabolic rate, Synephrine causes you to burn more calories than you otherwise normally would.
Since some of those calories obviously come from fat, Synephrine is an effective fat-loss agent.
Why Do People Supplement With Synephrine?
Mostly, people take Synephrine to help them lose weight and get leaner.
It's a mild stimulant, so you'll also find it in pre-workout supplements designed to increase energy and alertness, but the mental effects (i.e. feelings of increased energy and alertness) are hardly noticeable.
Synephrine is often compared to Ephedrine, the now-banned fat-burning supplement that everyone loved so much in the 90's.
While it's not as powerful as Ephedrine, Synephrine does share the exact same mechanism of action (beta-receptor agonism).
You can't expect the type of results you could expect using Ephedrine, but Synephrine does work, and it's also much safer.
What Kind Of Results Can You Expect With Synephrine?
By itself, Synephrine is no miracle weight-loss supplement.
Research shows that 50mg of Synephrine is capable of burning an additional 65 calories.
This may not seem like such a big deal, but combined with other supplements, the effects are amplified.
The same study that observed a 65 calorie increase in the metabolic rate also tested the effects of Synephrine with two molecules, Naringin and Hesperidin, which are naturally occurring in citrus fruits.
While Synephrine by itself was only capable of increasing the metabolic rate by 65 calories, a specific combination of:
- 50mg Synephrine
- 100mg Hesperidin
- 600mg Naringin
Increased metabolic rate by an astonishing 183 calories.
In other words, this precise combination cause you to burn over 180 additional calories per day, without you doing anything differently.
180 calories times 7 days a week = 1260 calories per week (again, without you doing anything).
Since you need to burn about 3500 calories (of fat) to lose a pound of fat, Synephrine is capable of causing you to lose about a pound of fat per month.
Amplify that by adding exercise and a slight caloric deficit, and you're looking at some serious fat-loss.
What's The Clinically Effective Dosage Of Synephrine?
Synephrine may be effective at doses ranging from 20-50mg, but 50mg/day is ideal.
If losing fat as fast as possible is your goal, consider taking:
- 50mg of Synephrine
- 100mg of Hesperidin
- 600mg of Naringin
At least once per day.
Synephrine is a very mild stimulant, so you may be able to tolerate higher doses, but I wouldn't go too crazy.
We know Synephrine is safe at 50mg/day.
We don't know for sure that it's safe at higher doses.
That's why I included precisely 50mg of Synephrine in each serving of Formula 56. It's a safe dose. It's an effective dose. That's the dose I recommend.
Does Synephrine Have Any Side Effects?
Synephrine has been extremely well-tolerated in all the studies, but it is a (mild) stimulant, so stimulant-related side effects are a possibility.
- Dry Mouth
While these side effects are all possible with Synephrine, they're highly unlikely and only a small percentage of users will experience any of them.
Research shows that, at normal doses (50mg/day), Synephrine is safe.
Is Synephrine Legal?
In the United States, Synephrine is perfectly legal to buy and sell as a dietary supplement.
While it has been compared to Ephedrine (which is banned), it's much milder and the federal government hasn't felt the need to ban it.
Methylsynephrine--a souped up form of Synephrine--is banned, however. So is Epehedrine.
So, Synephrine really is one of the last remaining fat-burners that is both legal AND effective.
The Canadian government recognizes Synephrine as acceptable for human consumption, as long as it's dosed no higher than 50mg.
I haven no idea about any other countries though. Just Google "your country" and "synephrine" and see what comes up.
If nothing comes up, it's probably legal. I'm actually not aware of any places where it is outright banned, except in sports.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has banned Synephrine, so if you play a sport at a high enough level that you're subject to WADA testing standards, Synephrine is a no-go.
For everyone else, it's fine.
Supplements You Should Stack With Synephrine
We've talked about the fact that Synephrine's weight-loss benefits are amplified by Naringin and Hesperidin, but what about other supplements?
Well, Synephrine hasn't been studied much in combination with other supplements, but there are a few that make sense to stack with it.
As you're probably aware, Caffeine give you energy. What you may not know is that this feeling of energy is actually the result of a group of chemicals called Catecholamines.
In addition to increasing feelings of focus and energy, these chemicals also directly stimulate lipolysis (fat breakdown).
Caffeine has been shown to amplify the effects of Ephedrine, so it makes sense that it would do the same with Synephrine.
Try taking 100-300 of Caffeine combined with 50mg of Synephrine.
Rauwolscine is a chemical cousin of the popular fat-burning supplement, Yohimbine.
Like Yohimbine, it is an alpha-receptor antagonist.
Remember earlier when we talked about how alpha-receptors block the breakdown of fat?
Well, by blocking these receptors, Rauwolscine essentially stops alpha-receptors from stopping fat-loss.
The result? More fat-loss.
Rauwolscine does not automatically burn fat, but it allows you to burn more fat than would otherwise be possible from exercise.
It works as basically the inverse of Synephrine.
- Synephrine stimulates beta-receptors, which cause you to burn fat.
- Rauwolscine blocks alpha-receptors, which cause you to keep burning fat.
This is personally my favorite fat-burning combination.
Forskolin is a non-stimulant component of the herb Coleus Forskohlii.
It has been shown to reduce body fat and induce weight-loss when used for several weeks.
It works by increasing levels of cAMP, kind of signaling molecule which tells the body to burn fat.
Increasing cAMP is a reliable way to burn fat, so it makes sense that Forskolin would augment the fat-burning effects of supplements like Synephrine, Rauwolscine, and Caffeine.
Formula 56 is an all-natural fat-burner I developed out of frustration with the lack of safe, effective fat-burning supplements.
I tried EVERYTHING, but every fat-burner either made be feel like I was going to have a heart attack or didn't do anything at all.
After years of research and self-experimentation, I had finally come up with a handful of natural, safe, effective fat-burning ingredients but no products combined these ingredients at clinical doses.
Thus, Formula 56 was born.
Formula 56 contains clinically effective doses of
It also contains clinically effective doses of Citicoline and Theanine to help you stay mentally sharp when your cutting.
The only way Formula 56 could be any more powerful would be adding Rauwolscine into the mix.
I know what you're thinking...
Why not include Rauwolscine in Formula 56?!
It's really just a matter of dosing. You see, all of the ingredients in Formula 56 are dosed in accordance with what research has deemed effective.
Rauwolscine, on the other hand, tends to vary. It's a much harsher stimulant than Synephrine, so not every reacts well to it.
Some people can take 1mg of Rauwolscine while others can take three times that much.
If you REALLY want to burn fat fast, I recommend combining Rauwolscine with Formula 56. That's why I created the Fat Torcher Stack.
This is hands down the most effective stack for cutting fat and losing weight, but since Rauwolscine is kept separate from the other ingredients, you can dose it however you'd like.
Personally, I take 1 serving (3 capsules) of Formula 56 with 1 serving (1 capsule) of Rauwolscine and have found that to be a VERY effective combination.
The Bottom Line On Synephrine
Synephrine is a natural, safe, effective fat-burning supplement.
It's not some miracle fat-loss pill that will magically make you lose a bunch of weight, but it does work.
It's one of the few natural supplements which has actually been proven to burn fat an accelerate weight loss.
If your goal is to get leaner, and your budget permits, it makes sense to supplement with Synephrine.
It's not a replacement for exercise, though. Technically it can help you lose weight without exercise, but the results would be negligible.
If you want to lose weight fast, you need to exercise.
